Juicing plant and orchard volunteers – HFT Sussex

The Sussex Orchards project in Walberton provides occupation and training for people with learning disabilities supported by HFT

The orchard contains over 1,200 apple and pear trees and a small juicing factory that produces apple, pear and blended fruit juices.

They are looking for volunteers to support this project by helping in the orchard and juicing plant.

Tasks might include: planting, cultivating, and harvesting fruit; weeding, thinning, or pruning crops; cleaning, grading, sorting, packing and loading harvested products; helping in the juicing room and bottling the juice.

You must be over 18, be able to work as part of a team and have skills in manual dexterity and/or good eye-hand coordination.

Shop assistant – Link to Hope

Link to Hope is a Christian charity based in Worthing, established since 1991, who rebuild lives and communities in Eastern Europe through social care and education projects.

They are looking for volunteers to work as part of a warm welcoming team in their shops in Rustington and Littlehampton.

There are a number of roles within the shop, so whether you have budding creative skills for displaying and making up outfits, or have a passion for books, music or china, preparing and merchandising all types of stock as well as serving and talking to customers, it all goes towards their overall goals of raising funds.

They would love you to come and join the team and give them a hand.

Treasurer – Sussex Steel

Sussex Steel is a charity created by individuals who are passionate about steelpan and committed to increasing the musical opportunities for people in Sussex and beyond.

They teach steelpan in schools and workshops, and run several bands.

They are looking for someone to look after the financial aspects of the charity and be the main contact with their accountants.

Duties will include: expenses, payments, banking, wages and cashflow.

The role would suit someone with experience of financial accounting, ideally with a charity, and can be carried out in your own home; although you will be required to attend monthly trustee meetings.

They are also looking for van drivers to transport their instruments for rehearsals and gigs.

Adviser – Arun & Chichester Citizens Advice Bureau

Arun & Chichester Citizens Advice Bureau offers free, confidential information and advice on: debt, housing, welfare benefits, employment, consumer problems, family issues, legal issues and many other areas.

Their generalist advice service looks at a client’s situation holistically as opposed to looking at their problems in isolation from one another.

Advisers are given free training, both formal and on-the-job.

All Advisers initially undertake the Gateway training and progress from there.

As a CAB Adviser you would: interview clients, help them negotiate with people such as creditors or service providers, draft letters, make phone calls on their behalf, and, if necessary, refer them to other agencies.
