VOLUNTEER COLUMN: Lots of opportunities to lend a helping hand within the local community

Volunteering your time can be a great way to help your local community, but it is also good for your own wellbeing; providing opportunities to socialise, gain news skills and experiences and have fun. Why not see how you can get involved?

Volunteer at a family fun day – Jamie’s Wish Trust

Jamie’s Wish operates solely by unpaid volunteers, including the two co-founders Tracey Terry and Jody Lee who manage the charity.

An annual family fun day is held in Littlehampton every July to raise crucial funds for the charity, and they are looking for volunteers to help at the event next year.

The role includes a variety of tasks – serving customers, sorting donations, keeping the shop tidy and clean and tallying the daily takings – so there are always things to do.

They need people who can help on Wednesday mornings between 9.45am and 12.15pm, and for the bank to cover sessions when regular volunteers are away.
