By spending some time volunteering, you can help to make a difference in your community at the same time as having fun.

You just need to find a role that suits you and fits it with what you enjoy doing.

Driver/helper – Littlehampton Social Club for the Blind and Partially Sighted

The Littlehampton Social Club for the Blind & Partially Sighted aims to bring people together for a social afternoon, to stop them feeling isolated at home.

Activities include bingo, quizzes, talks, outings, singing and games.

General helpers/car drivers are needed to collect one or two members and bring them to the club and return them home.

Drivers are requested to use their own vehicle but mileage allowance will be paid.

If you have a clean driving licence and the ability to get on with people they’d love to hear from you.

Breakfast club helper – Launch Pad Breakfast Club and Walking Bus

Launch Pad is a free breakfast club that runs before school every day during term-time.

Children who attend get a healthy nutritious breakfast plus opportunities for games or craft sessions before cleaning their teeth and joining the walking bus to school.

More volunteers are needed to assist the Launch Pad team in giving up to 40 children a healthy and nutritious start to the day.

Tasks would include: preparing fruit, setting the tables, helping the children to make informed choices, joining in with craft activities, clearing away and encouraging children to brush their teeth.

Help is required from 7.30am until 9am, term time only.

Oral history volunteer – Arundel Museum Society

Arundel Museum was founded in 1964; it is an independent, accredited museum run totally by volunteers who are members of the Arundel Museum Society.

Oral history volunteers are required to interview older people, recording memories of their lives, experiences and local events (this is done in the older person’s home.)

The interview is then transcribed into to a computer, themes are analysed and the final copy is produced.

Interviewers need to have a pleasant manner and be used to dealing with people, while transcribers need to be confident using a computer with good literacy and typing skills.

Activities volunteers – Chestnut Tree House Children’s Hospice

Chestnut Tree House is a children’s charity providing hospice care services and community support for children and young people with progressive life-shortening conditions throughout Sussex and south east Hampshire.

They need people to assist the care team and activity leaders with a range of activities, including play and creative activities.

You will need to have a willingness to learn (some of these skills you will already have and some may require training, which will be provided); the ability to work with the care team to help provide support for children or young people and be willing and able to prepare, set up and clear away activities, as well as arrange and provide activities for children and young people to take part in.
