Animal helpline volunteer – Wadars

Wadars works towards the rescue and rehabilitation of wildlife, and the rescue and re-homing of domestic animals; every year it re-homes more than 500 cats, dogs and other companion animals, and rescues and releases more than 2,000 wild creatures back to their natural environment.

Wadars often receives more than 50 calls a day from members of the public reporting animals in need of rescue or assistance and the charity requires volunteers to help man the switchboard each day and greet visitors.

You will be the first point of call for visitors to the centre and answering the phone to a whole range of different people and gathering as much information as possible.

You may also be asked to carry out some administration tasks to assist the office administrator.

Instructors – Littlehampton Sea Cadets

The charity purpose of the Sea Cadet Corps (SCC) is to promote the development of young people in achieving their physical, intellectual and social potential as individuals and as responsible citizens by the provision of education and leisure time activities using a nautical theme.

Littlehampton Sea Cadets would like to hear from people who are interested in becoming instructors; you could teach cadets how to sail, powerboat, kayak, windsurf, play football or learn first aid.

Volunteers can give whatever time they have available and will receive an induction, training and support.

You will need good communication skills, understanding and like working with children from all aspects of life.

Trustee – Ferring Country Centre

Ferring Country Centre provides meaningful training and work experience for people with learning disabilities.

Its customers develop work and social skills by assisting them with operating a riding therapy unit, which provides riding therapy for approximately 600 children and adults with disabilities per month; a garden centre, cafe, charity shop and animal farm.

It ensures those who attend have an enhanced quality of life; to learn life skills and help achieve their dreams and wishes.

A new trustee is sought to join and complement the competencies, experience and expertise of the current board of trustees.

Trustees are responsible for the overall running and management of the charity and oversee all the major decisions.

Volunteer driver – Cancer United

Cancer United is a local community support group for anyone whose lives have been affected by cancer, whether patients or their family or friends.

The charity is there to help people whenever they need from diagnosis onwards, providing a place to share information and get help and advice about treatment options and coping with treatment.

They need volunteer drivers who have hours to spare during the day and/or during the evening, to commit to driving the members of Cancer United and CU Fitter wherever they might need to go; and also time to help keep the vehicles clean.
