One-hundred words about one-hundred years, by P.J. Dapre

ONE hundred years ago, on 24th October, 1913, twin boys were conceived.

They were born and grew up and went everywhere together. They went to the same schools and evening classes. They worked in the same studio, earning their livings by carving statues in wood, for chapels, convents and churches.

They married two girls who were sisters, and now both have grandchildren. They served in the Army in World War II, ending up as staff-sergeants in R.E.M.E. They are ninety-nine years of age and look forward hopefully to becoming centenarians on 24th July, 2014. I am one of the twins!
