Cotswold connection

Any readers with the family names of Dickenson, Halliday, Hogg, Mansell, Ostrehan, Partridge, Scrivens, Sollars (or Sollis), Twining (or Twinning) or Workman may be interested to know they could have a connection with the charming village of Sheepscombe, on the edge of the English Cotswolds.

Our research into parish records of births, marriages and deaths here has revealed several mentions of these more unusual names, together with the relatively common Smith, Green and West families.

Any reader who thinks they may have such a connection will be very welcome to contact us: we would be delighted to invite them to a special lunch in the Village Hall here at the beginning of September, when our local history society will be exploring some family links with the parish.

We will also present a report of our Heartbeat project, our current conservation initiative. Tickets will be limited, so it will be a case of first come, first reserved.

Whether or not they are able to visit Sheepscombe, we look forward to hearing from all those who may be interested in making this connection.
