Cycling madness

So, August 23 was Cycling Awareness Day in Chichester (I noticed it on the Observer website).

I hope we will have one in Bognor Regis also before too much longer.

I’m getting sick and tired of being expected to jump out of the way of ignorant, foul-mouthed louts on two wheels who think they’re entitled to break the law.

And before any of them start whining about the nasty car drivers, I’ll point out many of these idiots use the pavements simply because they know they can do so with impunity.

Many a time I have seen cyclists whizzing along pavements on quiet streets with no traffic around. Police? What police?

Of course, it would help if the signage were better – Church Path, for example, has one very faded ‘no cycling’ sign at one end (which the cyclists are obviously too stupid to understand anyway), when what is needed is large painted letters at every single entry to the path stating ‘No Cycling’.

Perhaps then the pedestrians along this narrow path will feel they are within their rights NOT to step out of the way of the two-wheeled terrors who think they can train for the Rio velodrome along there.

Or perhaps Arun District Council won’t do anything until some kiddie runs out of Hotham Park and under the wheels of one of these cyclists.
