WIND: The winds have been very high lately and Falmer is fairly high on the downs. Last week I was walking up Ridge Road and came across a large fallen tree which I managed to clamber over. Shortly afterwards I met another walker and warned him about the tree. He told me he had walked up the lane a short time ago and there had been no tree in the road. It seems I am lucky not to have been underneath.

PARKING: We have had notification from East Sussex County Council about changes to the parking restrictions, which are now in line with Lewes, and it seems we are to have Pay and Display machines. A friend was wondering what would happen to hearses waiting outside the church during a funeral and the parked cars of the mourners.

VICARS: We are still without a vicar at St Laurence, but are being well looked after by the wonderful retired clergy from the area. This Sunday we have our very own Dr Jeffrey Lake taking our 10am Eucharist on Sunday.
