Fly the right way up

It's great to see so many Union Jacks flying.

What a pity so many people do not seem to know which way up to fly the flag.

I noticed at least one in six up the wrong way around Nyetimber and Pagham.

The correct way to fly the flag is with the broad band (the Cross of St Andrew) at the top left-hand edge when the flag is attached to the hoist or a pole.

If the flag is hung from the short edge, the broad band should be at the right-hand side at the top.

The images above should be observed, always.

Incidentally why, for goodness sake, do people fly the cross of St George with the word England through the middle?
