Helena Dollimore MP: The change we need
We know that the Tories ducked difficult decisions and ran down public services. Just this week we learned that the rebuilding of NHS facilities in Hastings, Eastbourne and Bexhill, promised by the Conservative government, only had a fraction of its funding allocated. It is now up to Labour to pick up the pieces after the Tories ran down our NHS and other public services. This week we have seen that they have not learnt their lesson and will not apologise for the mess they left.
This week we also heard Owens in Hastings town centre will never reopen, after receiving £150,000 in public funding under a botched Town Deal programme rolled out by the previous Conservative government. Owens was opened by Lubov Chernukhin, a major donor to the Conservative party.

Hide AdLabour’s ‘mission-driven government’ is a long-term plan to bring about a decade of national renewal. We will deliver economic growth across the country. Build an NHS fit for the future. Break down the barriers to opportunity for every child. Make Britain’s streets safe. Deliver clean power to get us off the rollercoaster of energy price swings.

Locally, we desperately need this change.
Since being elected I’ve received over 2500 cases from residents. I’ve dealt over 1000, and the rest are in progress.
The Labour government has introduced legislation to give us greater powers to take on the water bosses, and legislation to bring our railways back into public ownership. The Renters’ Rights Bill, which will give greater protection to renters by banning no-fault evictions and make sure that landlords keep homes safe, is back in parliament next week. We will act to reform the leasehold system and build more homes.
Our GB Energy Bill will drive down bills and create jobs. The Darzi Review of the NHS exposed the damage done by Conservative neglect. Labour’s 10-year plan for the NHS will be published in the spring. We have appointed a new Border Security Commander to tackle the criminal smuggling gangs. We have also started to fix the asylum system.
This Labour government is fixing the foundations to rebuild Britain.
