Lamp column will be a hazard

Our street lights in Blondell Drive have recently been replaced.

The procedure seemed to be performed with some well-thought-out methods in the installation of new lamp columns and removal of older ones.

Now I have returned from a week’s camping holiday to see a newly-inserted lamp column round the corner in Nyetimber Lane where the post is situated well towards the centre of the footpath at a point where it is particularly wide.

Once the barriers are removed, the lamp column will be a hazard to partially-sighted pedestrians and anyone not paying close attention to where they are walking.

Surely the contractors must have questioned the wisdom of putting the column in this place – especially as there is a location mark on the pavement nearby that is close up to the boundary wall of a property.
