Let's support the mum who shopped her sons

THE story you ran about the mother who "shopped" her sons to the police was a good, moral story which spoke volumes to people about doing what is right, no matter how much you love your family.

It also asked if it was right that a mother should do that to her sons.

I, for one, felt that she had done the right thing and I wondered what feedback you would have received.

The following week there was no mention on the front page, just a small sentence inside telling us that 95 per cent of the readers who answered your poll question considered she had done the right thing.

You broke the story in the first place, and since then it has been on TV and in other papers.

I think you should have produced more headlines to support her, and also shame the members of her own family who now want nothing more to do with her.

She did the right thing for the victim's family and perhaps her sons will think twice about beating people up after their short, sharp shock in prison.

We are constantly being told that a parent is the first line of discipline.

If more parents felt like this mother, then society wpould be so much better.

I know how she feels because years ago I got the police to speak to my son for his behaviour.

I did not want to and I felt guilty for doing so, but it worked.

Please show her that we do admire her and we do care for her.
