LETTER: Appalled by proposal

After reading your article in the Sussex Express, I, like Frank Brummell, was appalled to learn of the proposal to centralise the stroke unit to Brighton.

In January 2016 my husband aged 72 was treated for a stroke at the PRH. He was in hospital for 10 days, and thanks to the dedication of Dr James and his wonderful staff he has made a full recovery.

I believe that would not have happened if he had been taken to Brighton. Reducing services at the PRH will be catastrophic to the ageing population and the local area as a whole.

This hospital is well liked and respected by all the people I know who have had to use it.
