How apposite was Valerie Wise's letter regarding West Street in Horsham (WSCT 16.2.16).

There is an old adage that says ‘If it ain’t broke don’t fix it.’

Ex-councillor Croft’s indulgence in West Street is there for all of us to see.

Traditional street furniture, cast iron waste bins and attractive hanging baskets were expensively replaced with cheap looking, modernistic ‘tat’ on someone’s whim. As I recall there was even talk of the installation of a sound system running the length of the street at the time!

If the old furniture is still in store somewhere for goodness sake bring it back.

While we are at it, PLEASE acknowledge a failure and demolish the eyesore Shelley fountain. Perhaps a more natural looking water feature would be more suitable.

Come on Horsham District Council let’s have some action or at least a comment.
