LETTER: Considered decisions

Following the result of the EU Referendum and the majority decision to leave the European Union, I read with interest the comment made by Horsham MP Jeremy Quin on his website.

‘We face the most momentous events for our country in 70 years. As your MP I will do my utmost to encourage sober, reflective and considered decision making as we meet the challenge set out by the electorate.’

As he is a new MP, doubtless eager to make his mark, who backed the Remain campaign, I find it surprising that we did not see Mr Quin take an active part in the campaign to support his fellow Remain campaigners in Horsham.

It is easy to take stock and make comment after the event, but it’s not so easy to put your head above the parapet and campaign for what you truly believe in.

The same cannot be said of his colleague, Henry Smith, who was vocal and active in his support for the Leave campaign in Crawley.

Perhaps the people of Horsham should take a ‘reflective’ and ‘considered decision’ when they come to elect their next MP in 2020, with a particular view as to who leads from principle, and who watches which way the wind blows?
