LETTER: Eyesores that lower the tone

There are three permanent eyesores within yards of the town centre.

All three have been continuing in this shoddy state for years while time and time again we hear how wonderful the Carpet Gardens are.

These examples represent the real Eastbourne. Our Australian visitor last week just could not believe it:

A) The recycling bins behind the Tourist Information Centre;

B) The ‘garden’ in Grove Road outside Tesco Express and opposite the Town Hall!;

C) The ‘building site’ in The Avenue which is just two minutes walk from the station.

Some dramatic action is clearly necessary but who will insist something is done? How can we be proud of ourselves with these eyesores continuing and in such prominent positions?
