LETTER: '˜Gravy train'

The statement by Govia Thameslink's chief executive made me as angry as the gentleman whose photograph appeared on page 11 of last week's Sussex Express [December 2].

Your correspondent might have asked the company if it is true that the government reimburses Southern for compensation paid to passengers for cancelled services. You might also have asked if it is true that the government pays an administration charge on top of the reimbursement, so that Southern actually makes a profit on these payments.

The only train that GTR is capable of running with any success is the gravy train.
