LETTER: Keep and help the chemists

When will this short sighted government of ours wake up to reality?

Instead of pricing out the High Street pharmacists, people who are highly trained - who take the pressure off GPs - and whose contribution to society in general is invaluable, how about targeting antique shops for instance?

What is their contribution to our well-being? What about targeting the abundance of coffee shops where we are overcharged for what is basically coloured water?

What about the surfeit of cafes and eating outlets in general, don’t people eat at home any more?

Bearing in mind population growth in towns and villages countrywide that are expanding all the time, we will need more chemists not less.

Chemists above all those previously mentioned, are the only ones who provide a vital service – KEEP THEM and HELP THEM.
