LETTER: Misinformation
Readers should know that, contrary to the misinformation from Southern, the endless delays and cancellations are not caused by sickness absence.
They are caused by Southern’s policy of banning overtime and rest day working. That is why commuters and other passengers are left stranded at stations while staff who are ready and willing to work are prevented by managers from doing so.
The government is supporting Southern by waiving the normal fines, yet our Conservative MPs say nothing.
