Dear Mr Lindsay

I read in the County Times that you support charging in village car parks and it represents outstanding value for money.

Well I disagree, I do not think this has been thought through properly.

It is expected that the the next ten years will see costs of £500,000 to maintain these car parks, but have you considered the cost of running the car parks ?

1 Installation of charge machines

2 Administration of fines

3 Collecting monies due and court cases

4 Employing parking officers

5 Redundancies and pensions

Even at basic costs this will exceed the proposed £500,000 over ten years.

So why not leave it alone

It says that ten per cent of householders do not have cars but are tax payers.

I am a tax payer and have no children but I do not mind my money being used for education.

I live in the country but do not benefit from street lighting.

There are lots of things we all do not benefit from but we pay for the council package.

Leave it be please.
