LETTER: Parking appeals ignored

I had a similar incident on November 7 and it also was raining and windy. The parking ticket was blown from the dashboard where I left it to the passenger side foot well but still in view.

It must be a common occurrence and surely the attendants have been trained to be aware of this and have been instructed to make allowance accordingly. Or perhaps the operating company are only interested in increasing their cash flow and not the service they provide to their customers.

On returning to my car in good time I found the charge notice on my windscreen. The attendant was not in sight. I paid my fine by cheque the next day with a letter to the payment department of Capital 2 Coast Parking Management explaining the circumstances and asking for my cheque to be returned. When I did not receive a reply (although my cheque was presented on November 19), I followed this with a letter to the appeals dept on December 29 and to date have not had the courtesy of a reply to either letter.

I would be pleased if you could publish this letter in your excellent paper to warn your readers to be extra careful during the current weather conditions to ensure when they leave their cars to check carefully that the parking ticket has remained where they left it.
