We all know that the '˜service' meted out by Southern Railway is less than perfect, and things generally are not good, but the answer is not renationalisation.

Don’t people remember, or did they never know, the misery that was British Rail?

The timetable was a thing of fiction, carriages were filthy and overcrowded, strikes were a common occurrence and investment was non-existent. A state industry does not have to make a profit or attract customers, so no one cares or bothers.

Far better would be to strip the franchise from Southern Railway and place it elsewhere.
