LETTER: Sadness over collection theft

I was filled with anger initially and later by sadness that we have in our community those who could stoop so low and have no conscience as to steal collection boxes and poppies from Willows premises in Billingshurst.

Special crocheted poppies were produced by Kirdford resident Gaye Harris - hours of unstinting work to raise money for our National Poppy Appeal.

The support for the Royal British Legion and the Poppy Appeal within Billingshurst is next to none and I am proud of all those who not only give their time and energy for our cause but go out of their way to help my small team of devoted members and friends.

Shameful on whoever you are and hopefully you will be caught.

You have no thought or conscience of your actions and the distress you have caused the shop owners.

No thought or conscience about the monies you have taken that were destined for support of our Armed forces and their families.

Colin Banks

Branch President /Chairman, Billingshurst branch of the Royal British Legion, Roman Way, Billingshurst
