LETTER: The area has long been set aside for development

Your correspondent, Mr Adams, is incorrect. The site for the proposed Lidl store is not green belt but an area long set aside for development, both housing and commercial.

Given all the new housing at this end of our town surely a grocery store must be a welcome amenity. Apart from the Co-op store we only have a, very good, One Stop store here and a couple of small grocery shops. If he looks at the Street Life website for Polegate he will find that currently 86 per cent of the locals support the proposition.

As far as I am aware, Trossachs Close is in Eastbourne, not Polegate. I am sure our new town council will be all in favour of this proposal.
