LETTER: We demand our busy, well-loved post office stays

How ironic that in the very year that Royal Mail celebrates 500 years of its existence, Post Office Ltd announce their proposed closure of our Crown Post Office here in Lewes High Street.

We in Lewes are proud of our Post Office, and appreciate the kind, knowledgeable and efficient staff who work there.

Post Office Ltd’s plan to offload this vital service to a retail establishment at the other end of town demonstrates the meretricious mindset of an organisation prioritising profits for shareholders over quality of service to both customers and a loyal workforce.

Roger Gale, the Post Office general manager of the Crown network, states, “We have to continue to adapt to customer demands”.

Lewes demands that our busy, well-loved and well-used post office stays.
