LETTER: Why is this gem kept a secret?

Modesty can often be a fine attribute, but perhaps the people running South Downs National Park are taking things a bit far.

This lovely gem is five years old this month, yet still there are no signs on road or path to announce its presence. It wrote to the park’s administration three years ago asking why no signs had been erected. I was told that the matter was under active review. As nothing has appeared all this time later, I can only assume that the decision was to stay firmly off the radar screen. What a terrible shame that such a fine attribute right on Eastbourne’s doorstep is kept so secret. Come on National Park – be bold, be proud – and let all our visitors know what they can enjoy!
