A celebration of flowers

Volunteers flower arrangers at National Trust Nymans will be filling the house, once home to the Countess of Rosse, with fragrant flowers in a striking display for the annual ‘Celebration of Flowers’. You can see the results of their creativity from this week with the displays continuing until Sunday, June 21.

From extravagant, flowing arrangements bursting with colour and fragrance, to delicate designs maximising texture and form, the team recreate how the house might have looked when the Countess of Rosse gave one of her garden parties.

Nymans House Manager, Rebecca Graham, says “The aim of the ‘Celebration of Flowers’ is to fill the house with flowers just as the Countess of Rosse would have done if she were expecting guests at midsummer. It is also an excellent opportunity for our volunteer flower arrangers to showcase their talents. We allow them free rein to make creative displays in every room of the house. Some flowers and all the foliage are picked from the garden, but most of the flowers come from our regular local suppliers”.

Price: Free event (normal admission charges apply)
