A great asset for the community

Dear Editor and Councillors Bridget George and Richard Carrol. How many Bexhill folk were aware of the sale of St Mary's Wood before it was brought to our attention by Mr French?

A great asset of Bexhill is having these delightful pockets of woods dotted about the area.

Many elderly people have only their dog for companionship. These people may live in bungalows, houses or flats with only small gardens at the back.

Dogs encourage them to walk out twice a day where they can meet and greet others and this may be the highlight of their day.

I walk in one of these little woods.

I dare not name it in case it is the next one put up for sale!

Children and parents love these woods as well as showing the youngsters trees, birds, flowers and all the delights of the changing seasons.

Elderly people love the benches where they can rest before setting off for home.

The flat paths are not muddy but the dogs have masses of interest with squirrels etc.

I wonder how quickly the £193,000 will be spent and it will probably be gone in a twinkling but these woods have been part of our heritage and should be allowed to so continue for the sake of our future generations.

Thank for your kind attention and very sincerely.
