A short memory

ANDREW Fleming, in his letter “No evidence exists” (Bexhill Observer, August 5) seems to have a problem with his memory.

As a former Chairman of Rother District Council, and a former Charter Trustee, he knows very well that we have had several Catholic civic leaders, and meetings with a Catholic priest.

Jimmy Carroll, our previous Mayor, held his civic service in St Mary Magdalene’s Church.

Mr Fleming also obviously did not read my letter properly, or else chose to be selective. I said, I quote: “Should a councillor hold a different faith, I would like to think we would respect their belief in WHATEVER that may be.”
