A259 is best way

I read with interest Karen Baker’s letter (Gazette, August 29), which started off by asserting: “All those who say Arundel does not need a bypass are wrong.”

She’s right there, of course, because Arundel has already got a bypass, named as such on all road maps, and only a few headbangers on The Causeway will have you believe otherwise.

I was astonished to learn that this lady, living in Littlehampton and working in Fontwell, chooses to go five miles north out of her way to use the A27, when the A259 westbound is the blindingly obvious route for her, anyway.

She could always reach Arundel quite simply, by using the Ford road, a bit slow, but very beautiful, which is why many of us love this part of the world, and do not want any more roadbuilding to wreck the countryside.
