Allotment holders not giving up fight easily

AS A supporter of Littlehampton's allotment holders and founder member of the Facebook group, Save Littlehampton's Allotments, I found it refreshing to have the opportunity to have a cup of tea and a chat with councillor Ian Buckland when he visited the Worthing Road allotment site.

Mr Buckland, who is himself an avid supporter of the allotment holders, took time to chat with plot holders, their friends, family and supporters.

During the hour-and-a-half visit, plot holders had the opportunity to speak about their fears regarding the proposed developments and the threatened loss of their precious allotments.

It was good to meet a councillor who cared about the opinions of his constituents and who, true to his word, has supported the plot holders

since these proposals were first raised.

It was also great timing as we have now launched our Save Littlehampton's Allotments petition, which has got off to a flying start and will soon be appearing in local shops and other community facilities.

If you wish to speak out against the proposed developments planned for Littlehampton's allotment land, we urge you to sign the petition and get your friends, family and fellow supporters to do the same.

Furthermore, you can also write individually to the Rt Hon John Denham MP, The Secretary of State, Department for Communities and Local Government and state your objections.

It is safe to say the people of Littlehampton are not going to let their allotment land be built upon without a fight!
