For once, not about parking, but about recycling.

Although the two things are connected for most people.

I used to walk to your Rye site to recycle, but since the bins were taken away, I have had to go twice as far to Gibbets Marsh.

I don’t want to drive there; the whole point is to be ‘green’. The first time was okay, but the next the bins were overflowing, and the third time the large bins were gone. I don’t want to walk down there only to have to carry it all back home again.

Feeling pretty fed up by now, I have been phoning round to find out exactly who is responsible to provide recycling. It is Rother Council, as I’m sure you know.

They are apologetic, but say that they have no land in Rye on which to put the bins, and have to rely on permission to use private land, such as yours, to provide the bins.

They did say there was a fortnightly collection from homes, which I had thought they were exempt from providing because we live on the High St. But that still leaves glass to be dealt with, and I’m hoping you will change your minds and allow the use of your land again.

Bearing in mind your claim to be local heroes for the last 80 years, why did you decide not to provide the space anymore? Please let us have it back again.
