Animals deserve more respect

It is a really painful struggle for me to get to Pett Beach but well worth it to view the stunning scenery and enjoy the tranquil setting.

My art therapist suggested my husband could collect some shells and wood so I could make shell hangings and sea sculptures.

He set off and come back initially with no shells but four bags of discarded glass and plastic bottles and all sorts of lethal paraphernalia for wildlife and sea creatures. I then watched a family launch plastic bottles into the sea and throw stones at it - a fun activity but inevitably the bottles floated out to sea.

What ‘mindset’ are these people in? Only a few yards from the beach, an empty bin was stationed.

We recycle the bottles and plastic and I made the shell hangings from the shells and wood my husband eventually found.

I don’t know it is laziness or stupidity but we are so lucky to have this beach to use and the wildlife who live in it deserve more respect.
