Are we famous for bird poo?

On Saturday it was fabulous to welcome Altan, one of if not the top traditional bands from Ireland, to a one-off UK gig for the 44th annual Rye Arts Festival.

It was fab to meet the hugely talented accordionist Martin Tourish before the gig and great to hear his excitement about visiting our town!

He had done his research online and the number one thing he wanted to do was to see the Landgate – “The building that was full of 25 tons of bird poo!” It would seem that thanks to Rother District Council our lovely small town has gained a global reputation for being a big poo!
