Arlene to visit Storrington

Guests are invited to enjoy a classic British tea party of scones and jam, Victoria sponge and tea and coffee whilst mingling with Arlene herself. The former ‘Strictly’ star will also be hosting an open Q&A session about her experiences as an award winning dancer and TV presenter.

Arlene Philips will be visiting Foxmead Court as she promotes The Colour Report, McCarthy and Stone’s recent report into the realities of retirement in the 21st century. The results reveal that retirees feel up to 20 years younger than their biological age, and even consider living life to the full to be more important than leaving an inheritance for their children.

The report uncovers that older generations aged over 65 shop in the same shops as their grandchildren, (21% at Primark, 14% at H&M and Topshop), listen to the same music (35% listen to pop music, rock music is number one for a quarter of respondents and R&B is top of the pops for 15%), whilst 10% have attended a live gig in the past year.

Today’s retirees are also socially savvy - almost all own a Smartphone, and 59% a tablet, with most common apps being YouTube, Skype and Facebook, whilst retirees are making the very most of their twilight years by fulfilling lifelong dreams and ambitions, including going on a round-the-world trip (19%), writing a book (12%), learning to dance (6%) and getting a degree (4%).
