Homeowners and guests will be able to enjoy elevenses and rub shoulders with Arlene, internationally acclaimed dancer and choreographer at the event, which will take place between 10am-12pm at the development. Members of the public who are aged over 60 are invited to book their place now in order to attend the event along with their family and friends.

Guests are invited to enjoy a classic British tea party of scones and jam, Victoria sponge and tea and coffee whilst mingling with Arlene herself. The former ‘Strictly’ star will also be hosting an open Q&A session about her experiences as an award winning dancer and TV presenter.

Arlene Philips will be visiting Foxmead Court as she promotes The Colour Report, McCarthy and Stone’s recent report into the realities of retirement in the 21st century. The results reveal that retirees feel up to 20 years younger than their biological age, and even consider living life to the full to be more important than leaving an inheritance for their children.

The report uncovers that older generations aged over 65 shop in the same shops as their grandchildren, (21% at Primark, 14% at H&M and Topshop), listen to the same music (35% listen to pop music, rock music is number one for a quarter of respondents and R&B is top of the pops for 15%), whilst 10% have attended a live gig in the past year.

Today’s retirees are also socially savvy - almost all own a Smartphone, and 59% a tablet, with most common apps being YouTube, Skype and Facebook, whilst retirees are making the very most of their twilight years by fulfilling lifelong dreams and ambitions, including going on a round-the-world trip (19%), writing a book (12%), learning to dance (6%) and getting a degree (4%).

Julie Ward, Regional Sales and Marketing Director for McCarthy and Stone South East, comments: “We commissioned The Colour Report to bust the myths around retirement and to highlight the shifting attitudes and growing independence of today’s older generation.

“Retirees today are rewriting the definition of growing old. With Arlene Phillips, talented dance professional and performer fronting such a positive, and indeed, colourful report, we can’t wait to invite her to Foxmead Court to meet the thriving new community of homeowners who have moved into the development.”

The special event will be the perfect opportunity for anyone interested in finding out more about the new apartments at Foxmead Court to speak to McCarthy and Stone’s experienced sales executives, who can talk people in more detail about how downsizing could be the start of an exciting new chapter. The development is now 80 per cent sold, with only a handful of two bedroom apartments remaining priced from £349,950.

Exclusively for over 60s, Foxmead Court has been carefully designed to offer light, spacious interiors in an open-plan design, and apartments benefit from fully-fitted kitchens with designer integrated appliances, whilst a select few provide feature glass balconies overlooking the stunning grounds.

Foxmead Court boasts an impressive list of facilities, including a stunning club lounge, beautifully landscaped gardens in which to relax, plus its own luxury guest suite should friends or relatives stay.
