Art at Ingfield Manor

Students at Ingfield Manor School recently enjoyed two days devoted to art to finish off their newly refurbished hall. The new area now has a series of six colourful wall hangings depicting Sea, Land and Sky.

The project was the result of collaboration between the school and the West Sussex branch of The National Association of Decorative & Fine Arts, a charity which opens up the world of the arts through a network of local Societies and national events. Local artist, Ellie Bond, spent the two days working with 27 students aged 12 to 19.

The days were a resounding success with all the students being able to participate in an unusual art project, enjoying working as part of a large group and feeling proud of their finished products

When asked what they had thought of the days, three 16+ students, Franny, Lily and Heather said ‘it was really good fun’, ‘it’s great to be creative’, ‘I loved getting messy’, and ‘the best bit was using different materials and colours particularly the purple paint and sponges’.

Hazel Darby, Principal, said: ”The hangings are wonderful – so bright and cheery. They look so good in the new hall”

Ingfield Manor is run by Scope and is a school for pupils and students aged 3-19 with cerebral palsy.
