In the town square a traditional tall Christmas tree shines brightly against the early evening sky and the whole town looks magical with shops, restaurants, pubs and private houses decorated with Christmas trees decked with simple white lights.

Arundel by Candlelight features a Christmas Market with a wide range of stall-holders who are hand-picked for the quality and variety of their products; the food and drink providers include seasonal treats such as roasted chestnuts, mulled wine and hog roasts.

Arundel is also celebrated for its array of modern independent shops, contemporary art galleries, and great restaurants, pubs and cafes.

Festive entertainment features traditional carols, Father Christmas, brass bands and local choirs. The Christmas tree lights will be officially switched on by Her Grace, the Duchess of Norfolk.

What people are saying about Arundel…

Homes & Gardens, September 2014: “A rich heritage, lovely antiques shops and a lively cultural buzz make this an alluring getaway..”

Conde Nast Traveller, July 2014: “…a high street on a hill with a cathedral at the top, a castle and a river winding along the bottom and traditional black-and-white timber buildings in between…Arundel might look like a jigsaw scene but there is also a quiet thrum of dignified cool.”

Country Life, July 2013, England’s Best Views: “The tightly packed town at the foot of its castle is at first more French than English, a lofty citadel on a defensible cliff on a bend in a river. But from across the fertile flood plain of the Arun, the scene acquires the softer outlines of Sussex and the South Downs. From here, Arundel could only be England.”

The Times, 19th March 2013, The 30 coolest places to live in Britain: “…a burgeoning coffee-culture vibe with excellent restaurants and bars – and hardly any chain stores.”
