Bandstand would be better

IN THE words of the Rolling Stones, "Gimme Shelter". Please bring back the old shelters along the promenade.

I heartily endorse the view expressed by Mrs Doris Tyler (Gazette letters July 15) in that I would rather have seen a bandstand built in the name of Anita Roddick, than the "longest" bench and the shelters with no shelter.

Whoever sanctioned a shelter which surely won't afford any shelter during the inclement weather we invariably experience during trips along the promenade during both summer and winter?

The Little Oxford Dictionary states "shelter n. protection against exposure to harm.. screen or cabin affording shelter." I rest my case!
