Bar is friendly and welcoming

I would like to say how saddened I was to see that Milligans Bar was associated with an incident in Wilton Road in the Bexhill Observer (August 19).

I would like to say that I am a regular customer at Milligans and feel the landlord and landlady put a lot of hard work and effort into bringing some fantastic entertainment to this town.

It appears to me some people in Bexhill do not want businesses to survive and certainly do not want adults to have any fun in the town. I can honestly say it’s one of the only bars in Bexhill where I feel welcomed and safe.

I can also safely state that if anyone enters the pub and appears too intoxicated they are not served and are politely asked to leave so other customers are kept happy.

It’s a shame that when there was an incident up Wilton Road that the police parked outside the pub and people assumed this must be to do with the pub when in fact it was an incident separate from the pub further up the road.

From being able to go in Milligans for a cup of coffee while reading my paper and completing my crossword to attending their monthly quiz night (where I may add all proceeds go to Demelza house children’s charity), having the best roast dinners with my family and enjoying the live entertainment downstairs from jazz, soul to rock and pop and now holding the forbidden fruit drag show nights. These hard working, non-biased, lovely Irish couple cater for all people in their friendly pub.

What a shame that not everyone can appreciate the hard work and long hours that are put in for the people of Bexhill to enjoy if they choose.

I for one will be enjoying the late licence that has been accepted for the monthly drag show and am sure all those regulars and customers from out of town will continue to enjoy and attend the entertainment that these publicans continue to hold and all would agree it’s a friendly happy welcoming atmosphere where you never find any trouble.
