Battle Scroll of Honour

I was slightly surprised that last weeks article regarding Battle RBL and the research (by George Kiloh, husband of the current mayor of Battle Town Council) which has increased the known names with provable links to Battle Town (Urban District) from the 42 WW1 casualties on the war memorial in the grounds of St Marys, to over 110. It is his hard work that has encouraged Battle RBL Branch to make the appeal so that none are forgotten. It is intended to present St Marys with a permanent memorial scroll of honour (subject to prior approval of course). However, to do so means we want to be as sure as possible that we have all WW1 casualties that have a provable association to the town. Can anyone who knows of a WW1 casualty associated with the town of Battle (not the outlying rural district villages) to get in touch with Mr Ian Cheveralls (chairman) 01424 774539 email – [email protected] or Mrs Christine Brucker (Branch secretary) 01424 773478 email – [email protected] without delay. We probably do have basic details, but the personal aspects, such as photos, details of medals, anecdotes etc would be appreciated, to ensure None Forgotten.
