Battle town ‘closed until further notice’
I REFER to the notice on the front page of last week’s edition of the Battle Observer (May 18), re the council’s proposal to turn off the lights in Battle overnight and in a previous week’s edition the announcement regarding the extension of double yellow lines in Battle.
These proposals will effectively close Battle – the double yellow lines will mean no free parking for visitors, residents or business owners and the lack of street lighting at night will greatly affect the pub/restaurant trade.
In light of the council’s proposals may I now suggest that they put gates up at all entrances to Battle saying that the town is closed until further notice!
