Benefits to holidaymakers

Travelling? Britain being a member of the EU can help.

If you are on a flight from or to an EU airport and delayed by over three hours you may well be entitled to over 300 Euros in compensation – depending on the length of delay and miles which you intended to travel.

All EU based airlines are also bound by the Denied Boarding Regulations which, in the event of a delay, spell out your entitlement to meals, accommodation, phonecalls and emails or you can choose not to travel and secure a ticket refund.

Also, thanks to the EU, keeping in touch by mobile while away in Europe is now cheaper. The new roaming charge places caps on operators. Outgoing calls were 17p per minute and are now happily reduced to 5p.

Remember other EU membership advantages include cross EU travel without visas.

Should we vote to leave Europe then a weaker pound would increase the price of holidaying abroad – some calculate as much as £230 for a family of four.

Staying in safeguards all the above, not only our holidays but also the ability to move freely around Europe securing trade, working co-operatively with our European business partners and working with our neighbours to secure a future for our citizens.
