Benefits too high?

SOME people we know run a small shop in Littlehampton and very recently two windows were smashed. The vandal was caught and taken to the police station. However, because this person was out of work and in receipt of benefits, he was given a warning and not charged.

This person was drunk and one would ask why benefits are so high that one can get drunk on them?

Meanwhile, the shopkeepers will have to pay £500 to repair the windows. Where is the justice in this?

Surely if this person can spend a lot of money on drink, he could pay a notional amount as restitution for the broken windows.
