Best use of council tax?

FORTY-FIVE thousand homes recently received from Rother District Council via Royal Mail a copy of the magazine Rother Views. Each copy costs 18 pence to produce, this includes the designer's costs, printing and distribution '“ quite quite remarkable.

The magazine is issued quarterly and the basic costs are therefore £8,100 per issue or £32,400 per annum.

Over the six issues to date the cost has therefore been £48,600.

Issue 6 of Rother Views contains some items of interest but not one that has gone unreported in some other form or is easily available to any council tax paying citizen, except perhaps for the pat on the back RDC gives itself for dealing so well with the fly-tipping problem.

In these days of cuts and the best use of resources do you agree that this is a sensible use of your council tax?

If you do, then I’m sure Rother District Council would be glad to hear it, at Town Hall, Bexhill, East Sussex TN39 3JX.
