Beyond a joke

I WAS very pleased to see the response, from our residents (Gazette, August 12) about the shelter, that isn't!

Yes the kiddies are enjoying themselves, on that large climbing frame.

I noticed an anxious mother, waiting for her small child to ascend, without falling.

To add salt in the wound, now, we are told that another shelter will be demolished, the one at the end of the beach huts, supposedly as such, for the enjoyment of our wind surfers.

We beach hut residents pay extra every year to Inspire Leisure to have our huts on the beach – this year 384, not including the insurance of 100-plus, which we are forced to pay, to cover the vandals targeting our huts – we think it is beyond a joke!

I must admit, we do enjoy the wind surfers' antics, but they have caused some trouble with the swimmers, whose parents anxiously keep an eye on them.

Surely they could move further down the Prom?

This is the only decent shelter left for the use of our visitors. It could, and should, be saved. How thoughtless of the council!
