“We have the best beers and cheeses in the world,” said Mark, “and they are more than a match for wines when it comes to putting them together.”

He said that all the barley used in their brewing was British and that 90percent of hops were grown in the UK.

Mark is the great, great, great grandson of the founder of the Dorset brewery which has been producing ale since 1777.

White Hart landlord Gyles Culver, celebrating 15 years in Henfield with wife Mo, said: “It was a thoroughly entertaining evening and we were delighted to host Mark’s very informative talk.I think the sampling was much appreciated by the packed audience in our new Courtyard Room.”
