Bride arrives in a World War II Weapons Carrier

The wedding of Linda Howard and Shaun Bateman took place at Park House, Horsham on Saturday August 30.

In keeping with this years War Anniversaries, the bride arrived in aWorld War II Weapons Carrier.

Bride Linda Howard-Bateman said: “The Dodge Weapons Carrier is 75 years old and took part in the 70 years Celebration in Normandy this June.

“It is owned and driven by our friend Nick Matthews and he took it to Shoreham Air Show on the Sunday (31).

“My friend of almost thirty years, Jim Hatt from George, South Africa travelled in the back of the Weapons Carrier with me to the Service and gave me away.”

She continued: “Both the Journey to and From Horsham put a lot of smiles on a lot of total strangers faces - once people realise who (ie a Bride and then a bride and groom) were sitting in the vehicle they started waving and shouting at us.”
