Bridge benefit

WELCOME confirmation of the importance of providing a pedestrian/cycleway bridge over the railway, adjacent to the proposed Sainsbury’s superstore, as referred to in my letter (Gazette, April 19), has come in a letter I have received from Mr D. T. Brixey, head teacher of The Angmering School.

He states: “We have been involved for a good many years in trying to find a way to improve the facilities for cyclists and pedestrians at the Windmill Bridge.”

Progress now lies with Karl Roberts, Arun’s assistant director of planning services and housing strategy to engage in a “positive dialogue”, referred to in his letter (Gazette, April 12), with Sainsbury’s, to secure this major achievement.

The Arun Business Partnership should also establish liaison to ensure that Littlehampton benefits from the bridge fabrication.

- Editor’s note: for clarification, in his letter, Mr Roberts was referring to “positive dialogue” with those who wish to invest in the area, generally, and not specifically to Sainsbury’s.
