Jacob Stevenson, who attended Forest School, was a former student of The Hub theatre in Haywards Heath where he studied performing arts, dance, English literature and English language until summer 2012.

The 19-year-old was delighted to be offered a place at the prestigious London Institute, which boasts the largest and most diverse specialist staff and the broadest portfolio of drama, theatre and performance-related programmes in Europe.

He said: “It was an incredible achievement and to this day still find it hard to believe that I’ll be studying there later this year.

“I’m incredibly grateful to the amazing Performing Arts team at Central Sussex College, who work so hard to make sure students achieve their full potential, and prepare them for their journey into the industry.”

The Hub is an exciting venue for student shows and third-party performances which this month includes a two-day contemporary dance extravaganza, ‘HotHouse’, and an exciting performance of ‘The Girl with no Heart’ – exploring the story of the children of Hiroshima and Nagasaki through puppetry and origami – which won five stars at last year’s Edinburgh Festival.

Part of Central Sussex College’s Sixth Form, The Hub and the College’s performing arts department is becoming synonymous with producing exciting young talent who have progressed to study at some of the UK’s top drama schools and are making waves in the industry.

Jacob secured his place at The Hub after competing against almost 4,000 applicants from all over the UK, and was selected after three tough rounds of auditions.

Jonathan Goodwin, head of performing arts at the college said: “Jacob has been a delight to teach and we are really proud of him.

“It has been wonderful to see Jacob achieve his dream - his dedication and commitment have really paid off!”

Jacob continued: “Quite simply, I wouldn’t be in this position if it wasn’t for Jonathan and the team and the first-class facilities on offer at The Hub. I can’t wait to start my Degree in October!”
