Having been successfully coordinated by Ken Rowsell for over twenty years the fete was in new hands this year and re-invented itself with new family stalls and events as well as keeping the tradition of the fete at its heart.

New for 2015 was the Tug of War competition where winners the Bury Village Team triumphed over their fine opposition of J M Wadey Name.

There was also a dog obedience demonstration, owl display and brand new photography competition with the title of “Sussex”. Winners included Ben Shaw with his excellent photo of Bury and its Surroundings.

Fete Committee Member Carol Shillingford said: “We’ve had a wonderful day with our fantastic boutique, cake stand, ice creams and raffle as well as some brilliant entertainment for our visitors which we look to build on for next year.

“Not only that, the fete has raised around £9,000 For the parish and this will go towards upkeep of our beautiful churches and the creation of a community area in St John’s Church Bury. Thank you to all our volunteers, sponsors, tug of war teams and supporters for their work without which, this event truly would not be possible.”

Bury Church Fete is held every year on the last Saturday in July.
